Free skates abound in Nanaimo’s Frank Crane Arena again this holiday season.
The arena will have several hours each day of free public skating every day between Christmas Eve and December 30th, excluding Christmas Day. It comes through the sponsorship of local businesses.
The City says the arena will be decorated for the season.
“The Frank Crane Arena in Beban Park will be transformed into a ‘West Coast Winter Wonderland’ theme featuring twinkling lights, seasonal music, a forest of real trees, a decorated 1957 blue Chevy truck filled with trees and presents and other holiday decor,” they say in a statement.
Mayor Leonard Krog says for six days each year, the Frank Crane Arena is transformed into a winter theme with an abundance of participation.
He says the City of Nanaimo is grateful for the local businesses and organizations for their support in bringing this event to our community.
Alongside no entry fee, there is also no fee for helmet or skate rentals.
A full schedule for with ice times can be found on the city of Nanaimo website.
