3000 cars stopped by RCMP in Oceanside on Saturday

RCMP officers stopped just under 3000 vehicles in the Oceanside area on Saturday evening. RCMP Central Vancouver Island Traffic Services organized a series of check stops to reduce collisions caused by impaired and distracted driving.

20 RCMP traffic officers from various detachments across the Island set up in strategic locations in Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Coombs, and North Qualicum. Cpl. Jesse Foreman speaks for Oceanside RCMP.

Results:

  • 50 violation tickets
  • 21 warnings
  • 6 impaired investigations
  • 10 drug seizures
  • 2 warrants executed

The vast majority of drivers were in complete compliance and appreciated the safety check. RCMP hope the few who were caught will learn from the experience.
