There’s been another privacy breach at Island Health.
This one is similar to the two reported back in mid June, but unrelated.
Island Health says this breach involves an employee who viewed the records of 34 individuals who received services from Island Health.
Island Health President and CEO Dr. Brendan Carr says employees know it’s wrong to look at the private health information of patients when they have no legitimate reason to do so and patients deserve better.
Steps have been taken to ensure the employee can no longer access personal or confidential information.
The employee was based in Victoria and no longer works for Island Health.
Island Health is in the process of notifying all individuals impacted, all of whom are from Vancouver Island.
