Volatile forest fire conditions this weekend

So far this season, the BC Wildfire Service has responded to 427 wildfires, with 64 of those were in the region covered by the Coastal Fire Centre.
More than half of the wildfires were caused by people.
Human-caused fires are completely preventable and unnecessarily tie up firefighting resources that could be used to deal with naturally occurring wildfires.
The Coastal Fire Centre’s Donna MacPherson says the weather forecast is callling for plenty of wind this weekend…..
MacPherson says for the south part of Vancouver Island the fire danger rating is moderate with an area south of Duncan in high.
On the Sunshine Coast, the fire danger rating is low but that could change with the windy conditions this weekend.
