Yellowpoint residents worry about development

A developer is moving to make some changes to his property south of Nanaimo in the Yellowpoint area and residents of the area are not too pleased about it.

The property is next to a bay that’s housing a boat harbour.

Zita Hartman, of Boat Harbour Neighbourhood Watch says it seems the developer has given those who use the harbour until April 1st to vacate their slip.

Following that, she says, the developer is going to dredge the harbour and fill in a portion of it….

Hartman says many in the community are shocked all levels of government including the Ministries of Highways, Transportation, Environment, and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans are allowing the project to go ahead.
