Boats moored in Ladysmith’s “Dogpatch” have 1 month to leave

People living on boats in the part of Ladysmith Harbour known as “Dogpatch” have a month to clear out.

Mayor Aaron Stone says a bylaw officer and RCMP served eviction notices last week, and the vessels have to be gone by November 15th.

Stone says they needed to take action because of ongoing problems in the area.

Town bylaws only allow boats to moor in the harbour for a maximum of seven days. The only places where they can stay longer are marinas or private docks.
