SD 68 voting on Ladysmith School closures

The Nanaimo Ladysmith School Board is expected to vote Thursday night on closing two Ladysmith elementary schools.

It’s part of the same controversial 10 Year Enhanced Facilities Plan that calls for school closures in Cedar.

If the Board votes yes, Ecole Davis Road would be closed in June of 2014 and North Oyster Elementary would shut down in 2015.

Ladysmith mayor Rob Hutchins says, to make matters worse, the board is looking at selling the Davis Road property.

Hutchins says the Town’s requests for a meeting with the Board have been rebuffed. He says the Board told them they’ve already done enough consultation.
