South Downtown Waterfront Committee ready to release final report

Nanaimo’s South Downtown Waterfront Committee is getting ready to release its final report.

The Committee’s been working for the past 6 months to gather ideas on what the city ought to do with the Wellcox Railyards, which it bought last March.

David Witty Chairs the Committee.

The RDN and the City have already said some of the land will be dedicated to a transportation hub.  Other ideas being kicked around include a multiplex, which some people want to see so the city can attract a WHL team.  The property also includes the area the company behind the passenger ferry proposal wants to use as a terminal.

Witty says the final report will be released at a public event Saturday, January 11th at 2pm at the Port Theatre.
