Two waste reduction projects get over $1,300 from SCRD

Two local waste reduction projects are getting over $1,300 from the Sunshine Coast Regional District.

In an announcement from this morning, the district says $1,302.80 will be split between Roberts Creek Community Association and Cedar Grove Elementary School for their waste reduction projects this year.

They say this funding is part of their Waste Reduction Initiatives Program, a program that provides funding to projects that aim to lower waste in the region.

The Association will use $775 to improve recycling at community events by buying sorting bins to help improve access to recycling.

For Cedar Grove, the school will use $527.80 to improve access to composting for students and to lower contamination in diverted materials.
