Update: Dixon has been located as of 10:37 this morning.
Family and friends of an 11-year-old girl are asking people on the Sunshine Coast to help locate Arielle Dixon after she went missing shortly after midnight this morning near Trident Avenue, in Sechelt.
Dixon’s aunt Joyce Joe says they have contacted RCMP, and an extensive search is being conducted for her niece, with no success at this point, but all they want is for her to be brought home safe and sound.
“Arielle, please contact your mom and let her know you are ok,” Joe says. “If there is something bothering you, please reach out to one of your aunts because we all love you.
“We just want to know you’re safe.”
Joe says this isn’t the first time Dixon has run away but typically it isn’t for this long of a duration, which has everyone worried.
“I’ve located her walking towards the provincial park, at that point she was having anxiety issues,” Joe says.
The family has searched all over the Sunshine Coast with the help of search and rescue as well as RCMP.
Dixon is described as an Indigenous youth, five foot six, slim build, hazel eyes, and long dirty blonde hair.
She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and boxer shorts.
Joe is asking anyone with information to contact Sunshine Coast RCMP and reference file number 2023-6304.
