No charges in Christmas Eve incident near Earls Cove

Sunshine Coast RCMP are saying there will no charges after an incident on the water Christmas Eve.

RCM-SAR Pender Harbour was called out around 6:30 in the evening to rescue a man whose boat had capsized near Earls Cove. The man refused to get off the boat, and the crew suspected he’d been drinking. They gave the man a life jacket and brought in the police.

RCMP say they arrested the man for being intoxicated in a public place and took him to the cells for the night.  He was let go after sobering up, but will not be charged.

The Queen of Chilliwack was also called on to help that evening, which resulted in some delays on the Earls Cove – Saltery Bay run.
