SC Community Services seeks support for province-wide Social Policy Framework

Sunshine Coast Community Services is looking for support from area municipalities as it works with similar organizations to convince the province to create a “Social Policy Framework”.
Community Services Vice President Helen Carkner explained the idea to Gibsons Council recently.  She says having all the ministries and agencies involved in social services are on the same page really does make a difference to people who use those services.
Carkner says that’s certainly been the case in Alberta, which created a Social Policy Framework in 2013.
So far, around 30 municipalities, including the City of Vancouver, are offering support.  Gibsons came on board last week, and this week Community Services is hoping for the same in Sechelt.
