BC Bike Race to impact BC Ferries

Hundreds of mountain bikers are making their way up the Island as the BC Bike Race, the province’s largest mountain bike race, continues. Most of the racing takes place off-road, but it is going to have an impact on BC Ferries.

Tonight the racers will be crossing from Comox to Powell River, which is going to mean some heavy traffic on the 7:15pm sailing.

Darin Guenette of BC Ferries says the biggest impact will be Wednesday, as the riders make their way to the Sunshine Coast. The 9:25am sailing from Saltery Bay to Earls Cove will be exclusively for the BC Bike Race.

Guenette says the riders will be coming through Langdale on July 3. The overflow parking lot will be closed for the finish line, and heavy traffic is expected on the 1:05pm and the 3:25pm sailings.
