BC Teachers have given their union a strong strike mandate.
The BCTF says there was a record turnout for the voting, and 86 per cent were in favour of escalating to a full scale walkout.
But, president Jim Iker says they still want to avoid taking that step. A full strike would require three days notice.
Nanaimo District Teachers Association president Mike Ball says he hopes this week’s vote will put enough pressure on the government to break the deadlock.
Louise Herle is president of the Sunshine Coast Teachers’ Association.
For now the BCTF is sticking with rotating walkouts – Wednesday both Sunshine Coast and Nanaimo Ladysmith teachers are on the picket lines. Qualicum teachers will strike on Thursday.
