Full houses were reported at the town hall style water dialogue meetings on the lower Sunshine Coast.
Gibsons and Sechelt mayors and council, Sunshine Coast Regional District directors attended the meetings which were held last week to allow the public to learn more about SCRD water supply projects, drought management, water conservation, and climate change.
The SCRD’s infrastructure manager spoke about the crisis, which involves an anticipated water deficit.
Aggravating the situation is the abnormally warm and dry long-range summer forecast.
The public expressed concerns about the rapid pace of development as it relates to the lack of water.
Chair of the District, Lori Pratt says she is aware of the issues surrounding developments and says conversations about that issue are ongoing.
