Sechelt has been awarded a grant of just about 550,000 dollars from the BikeBC Funding Program.
The money will be used for the construction of about 3 kilometers of bike lane from Trail Avenue along Reef Road, Shoal Way, and Lighthouse Avenue to Ripple Way.
This lane will expand cycling routes between the downtown and residential areas of West Porpoise Bay.
The District portion of the project will be funded by the Gas Tax or a combination of Gas Tax and Development Cost Charges.
Staff expects to issue a Request for Proposal and award a contract for the construction before the end of July and it’s hoped the lane will be done by the end of Spring 2020.
