Buddha Gains appeared a Nanaimo courtroom today facing a charge of assault causing bodily harm in the death of Michael Brophy in 2006. Brophy died as the result of a fight at the now-closed Grizzly B’ar. Gains was working as a bouncer at the bar on the night Brophy died.
Gains was sentenced to one year behind bars.
The two other men who pleaded guilty for their roles in Brophy’s death, Timothy and Matthew Maybin, were given conditional sentences in April.
