The Bastion Street Bridge Renewal and Seismic Retrofit Project is scheduled to start Monday.
The work will continue through to August.
It includes replacing the concrete deck and that will result in the bridge being closed to vehicles for about six weeks between May 21st and June 28th.
Pedestrians will still be able to cross the bridge.
The bridge closure will affect RDN Transit operations and the transit exchange will be relocated temporarily to 1 Port Drive beginning on April 8th until the end of August.
The last major upgrade of the bridge was over 40 years ago, in 1978.

This major upgrade is expected to extend the life of the bridge by 20 to 30 years.
