Sailing cuts start today on BC Ferries, and in our area it’s Gabriola Islanders who have the biggest changes to get used to.
Some mid day sailings and being dropped and now, the Gabriola schedule will change with the seasons instead of being consistent year ’round.
Sheila Malcolmson is an Islands Trust representative for Gabriola. She says all the negotiations around which sailings to cut have left some confusion.
Malcolmson says she’s hoping the province helps get the message out that it’s still going to be relatively easy to get to and from Gabriola during the height of tourist season.
Only one round trip is being dropped from the Langdale – Horseshoe Bay route; on Sunday mornings. The Earls Cove – Saltery Bay run is also losing a round trip.
