Charges laid after stabbing in Nanaimo

Multiple charges have been laid after a weekend stabbing in Nanaimo. Five adults, including four men and one woman, were at a home on Carlisle Rd on Saturday, April 12th. An argument broke out and one man was stabbed during the fight. A witness heard the commotion and called 911. Police were on scene within minutes.  The 23-year-old victim was taken to hospital and treated for a non- life threatening injuries to his forearm and hand.

“Alcohol was a definitely a contributing factor to melee,” says Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Police are recommending charges of Assault with a Weapon against a 23-year-old man.  He was released on a Promise to Appear. Two other men were arrested for Assault and Breach of Probation charges.  They are all expected in court on June 10th. One man is still in custody on a Breach of Probation charge and will be making an appearance in Nanaimo Provincial court on Monday, April 12.
