A decision has to be made on a prominent Arbutus tree on the 300 block of Millstone Avenue in Nanaimo.
That’s because, according to the City’s Urban Forestry Coordinator, Patrick McIntosh the tree is suffering from structural decay and there is the potential for damage to people or property.
McIntosh says they understand removing a legacy tree like this one can be controversial……
Dr. Julian Dunster, who is a Registered Consulting Arborist, Forester and Planner will use some sonic tomography testing on the tree to try to get some two-dimensional cross-sectional images featuring the inside of the tree before any decisions are made.
The minimally invasive examination will take place within the next two weeks.
