Oceanside RCMP say a local resident has lost almost 1,900 dollars on a computer repair scam.
Police say they got a call from a woman who says she had received a phone call from someone stating they were with the Microsoft Corporation and that in order to have her computer fixed, she would have to pay a fee.
She sent the money via Money Gram before realizing it was a scam.
Mounties say the scammers can be very convincing and in the recent cases, they claimed to be representing the Microsoft Corporation.
Police say Microsoft will not call and if you get such a request over the phone, hang up.
