Quick work leads to arrest of Parksville auto theft suspect

A Parksville man is facing auto theft charges after somebody nabbed a car from in front a house Monday night.

While one RCMP officer was talking to the owner, others were on the lookout.  The car was spotted on Highway 4 near Coombs before police had even finished with the owner.

Oceanside RCMP say they arrested the man behind the wheel of the stolen car, which had its window smashed out and the ignition disabled.

Police say as well as the auto theft charges the suspect is facing counts of possession of break-in tools, possession of stolen property and breach of probation.

Corporal Jesse Foreman of Oceanside RCMP says, “This is a great example of what can happen when a crime is reported in a timely fashion and the police work with a strategic, coordinated effort.
