Quadra ferry protestors file complaint after RCMP brought in

One of the organizers of a Quadra Island protest against ferry cuts is filing a complaint with the BC Ferries Marine Superintendent over how demonstrators were treated.
Jim Abram says a large security and police presence Saturday made protesters very upset and frightened.
He says the group went to Campbell River, and the trouble started when they got back on the ferry for the return trip.  BC Ferries says RCMP were brought in because not everybody had paid for a ticket and the skipper didn’t have an accurate head count.Abram says it was an overreaction that held up the ferry for two sailings… and it could have been on time, with maybe a few losses in revenue in passenger fares.

The Quadra protest was one of several on the the weekend, including less eventful rallies in Gibsons and Sechelt and on Gabriola.
