Nanaimo RCMP Detachment welcomes new Officer in Charge

Nanaimo’s RCMP Detachment welcomed a new Officer in Charge this week. Superintendent Mark Fisher started Monday. He made the move to Nanaimo from Oak Bay, where he was Chief Constable.

Fisher says Nanaimo’s detachment has a great reputation across the province for the innovative work they’ve done to reduce crime and build relationships with community groups.

Fisher says he’s also been impressed this week by the level of energy he has felt within the Detachment. He says his goal now is to follow the RCMP’s strategic plan, which was developed over the past year in consultation with the community, to reduce crime and make Nanaimo an even better place to live. The Nanaimo RCMP detachment is the largest on Vancouver Island.
