Improvements to the Parksville Community Park are now complete, but the city says only a few tweaks are needed in preparation for summer.
According to the city, the park went through major construction last year which hindered many events from happening as well as the enjoyment for many residents, but add they were still able to hold 700 events.
The city says so far this year they have more than half of last year’s events planned, and they will be welcomed by upgraded facilities.
“More than 400 events have already been booked at city-owned locations or on city streets,” they say. “Parksville Community Park will be better served this year with the new washroom facility, improved accessible connections throughout the park, upgraded sports courts, new fencing and viewing platforms, and a gathering space.”
Several of the events include Canada Day events, beach festivals, fireworks, Summer by the Sea Street Market, and the Parksville Beer Festival.
