Beefed up service for Gulf Islands

Over the past year, BC Ferries conducted a public consultation process to review schedules
between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands.
The process included surveys, public meetings and small working group sessions with local community representatives who were trying to balance the competing wants and needs of five islands.
Now, Mark Collins, BC Ferrie’s Vice President of Strategic Planning and Community Engagement believes they’ve struck the answer with increased sailings come May 2017, when two new natural gas fueled vessels come on-line…..
In the off season, one of the new vessels will be used as a relief ferry where others are getting serviced.
Early in 2017 BC Ferries will take delivery of a new vessel that will replace the Queen of Burnaby on the Comox to Powell River Route.
