RCMP arrest a man following firearm incident

Nanaimo RCMP have a 33 year old man is in custody after allegedly pointing a firearm at two individuals early Saturday morning.

RCMP were called around 9 o’clock Saturday morning after a report that a man had pointed a firearm at two people 3 hours earlier at a home in the south end of Nanaimo.

Police were told the man may be in a vehicle travelling in the north end of Nanaimo.

Police did locate the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 19 and Mallard Way where the suspect was arrested but no firearm was located.

Police continued to investigate eventually locating the firearm in a home on Woodhouse Street.

The suspect has been remanded in custody and will be in Nanaimo Provincial court on Monday.
