RCMP are reminding people to take some precautions to avoid being targeted by grinches during the Christmas season.
Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien says throwing out receipts after shopping for gifts could make you vulnerable to identity theft.
O’Brien says shredding unwanted receipts is much safer option. He says people also need to be wary of pickpockets.
O’Brien says they’re also reminding people not to leave gifts or valuables in plain sight, even if your car is locked. Instead, tuck them away in the trunk where they’re hidden from view.
