Tour de Rock arrives mid-Island

The Tour de Rock has arrived in our area, for the first of two sets of stops.

Riders have been busy with events in Qualicum Beach and Parksville Thursday afternoon.

There aren’t any Oceanside RCMP members cycling this year, but Oceanside constable Bill Peppy has a vital behind-the-scenes role.

Peppy helped train the riders, and now that the Tour is underway, he’s a support driver.

Another key behind-the-scenes player is 8 year-old Hope Kopeck. She’s one of the junior riders for Coast FM’s Hilary Eastmure, the media rep on this year’s Tour.  (that’s them in the picture below)

The riders are spending the night in Parksville before heading out Friday for Port Alberni… they return to Parksville Sunday, en route to Nanaimo.
