Elk Falls suspension bridge set to open in June

The Rotary Club in Campbell River is just about ready to unveil what it’s hoping will become an iconic Island tourist attraction.

They’re been working on a suspension bridge at Elk Falls since 2009.

Lorrie Bewza is the chair of the project and the President of the Campbell River Rotary.

Bewza says they’ll be ready to open the bridge in June. The project also includes walking trails and a viewing platform.

He says the Elk Falls Canyon already draws around 70,000 tourists a year to that part of the North Island, and once the bridge opens they think that number could double.
