Routley wades into dams debate

Nanaimo City Council is under pressure from the Dam Safety Branch to make a decision the Colliery Dams, but one local MLA is telling the province to back off.

Nanaimo Cowichan’s Doug Routley says he usually leaves these issues for local governments to deal with, but this time there’s a reason to jump in.

The City’s been given a deadline of March 27th to come up with a remediation plan.

A long-awaited stakeholders meeting took place Monday, and Routley says Council should have time to come up with a solution through that process, without unnecessary pressure or threats of legal action.
