Fund set up to help Qualicum Beach couple who lost everything in mudslide

Community members are trying to help after a Qualicum Beach couple lost their home and all of their belongings in a mudslide on Dec 10.
The house in the Little Qualicum River Estates, owned by Noel Stephen & Judith Munkholm, was partially buried when a bank behind the house collapsed due to the heavy rain. Stephen had to be rescued from the basement by emergency crews.
Neighbour Elaine Peligren says they’re raising money to help the couple.
Peligren says the don’t know how much, if anything, will be covered by insurance. They’re waiting to find out how much it will cost to rebuild their home and how much of it will be covered by the National Disaster Fund.
Peligren says she hopes they can raise $100,000 to help the couple get back on their feet. Donations for the couple are being accepted at Royal Bank branches.
You can also donate online. You can also donate services or items to help them refurbish their life by contacting Peligren at [email protected].
