A violent suspect was arrested by Nanaimo RCMP on Thursday following a wild police chase like something straight out of the movies.
The 31-year-old man was wanted for several offenses in the Duncan and Ladysmith areas.
Constable Gary O’Brien says the Island District General Investigation Section warned them that the suspect was in Nanaimo.
O’Brien says the man abandoned the car and then jumped into the Nanaimo River in an attempt to escape.
O’Brien says Tyler Fong is charged with five counts of assaulting a police officer, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and evading police.
