Sections of Bowen Road in Nanaimo will be closed for 10 days paving starting Aug. 8 and the city is asking people to be patient and allow extra time if they are in the area.
According to a media release, Bowen Road will be closed between Northfields Road and Meredith Road, from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly but signage will be utilized to guide commuters to Boxwood Road and Dufferin Crescent.
Mayor Leonard Krog says repairs and maintenance are always necessary to keep up with aging infrastructure in key areas of the city.
“Sometimes asset management is grand, such as our Midtown Water Supply project. Other times it is just old-fashioned paving projects like this one,” Krog says. “Nonetheless, there will be road closures and we apologize for the inconvenience; we know how important it is to maintain Bowen Road and to keep it operational.”
Construction is scheduled to end on Aug. 18, for a full list of projects and construction schedules visit the City of Nanaimo’s website.
