Nanaimo RCMP seeing big increase in auto thefts

There’s been a big spike in car thefts over the last month in Nanaimo.
RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien says thieves are targeting older model Hondas, like Civics and Preludes from the ’80s and ’90s.
O’Brien says, typically, 20 per cent of stolen vehicles were left unlocked.
RCMP have 2 suspects in mind and expect to get a warrant soon. They’re looking for a 22-year-old man, who is white, 5 ft. 3, with a slight build and short dark hair. His female accomplice is the same age, white and around the same height but significantly heavier.
