Permit for "George" info centre put on hold

Gibsons Council is saying “not yet” to a developer who wants to set up an information centre for a controversial waterfront hotel/conference centre project.
The company behind The George needs a special permit to use an old house on the property.
Most councillors say they think it would be premature, because it’s still early in the application process.

Some – like Dan Bouman – went further…
But, Councillor Gerry Tretick says he thinks having the centre up and running now would be a good idea.

Mayor Wayne Rowe points out that the company could still use any commercial or office space in the town for its information centre without Council permission.
