Councillors want people to know vindictive, mean-spirited comments on the City of Nanaimo’s Facebook page will no longer be tolerated.
Instead of the page acting as a bulletin board, the comments, from what Councillor Jim Kipp refers to as “keyboard commando’s” have gotten out of hand.
Councillor Sheryl Armstrong, a former member of the RCMP, says it’s unacceptable that staff have to spend time editing the comments…..
The City is investigating ways to turn off the comments section, or remove the page entirely.
Members of council say they are always available to talk to residents who have legitimate concerns and they can be reached via email or by phone.
