Education Minister Peter Fassbender is congratulating the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District on improving their Aboriginal graduation rate.
He sent SD68 a letter applauding how their Aboriginal 6-year completion rate jumped from 56.2% in 2012/2013 to 64% in 2013/2014.
SD68 Board Chair Steve Rae credits the work of the Aboriginal Education Team, led by Director of Instruction Laura Tait.
The Aboriginal graduation rate across the province is 62%. On the Sunshine Coast, SD46’s rate for 2013/2014 was ten per cent higher than the provincial average, at 72.1%.
