Nanaimo RCMP seek break-in suspect

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a break-in at a local restaurant.

Police said the suspect allegedly broke into The Hook restaurant on Boundary Crescent at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, and tried to pry open a cash drawer.

A maintenance worker heard a disturbance and confronted the suspect, who fled on foot.

Nothing was stolen. Investigators recovered forensic evidence they believe is connected to the break-in.

The suspect’s face is obscured in a photo released by police, but investigators hope someone may recognize the person’s build or clothing. The suspect was dressed entirely in black. The photo is available on our website.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP.
