Man charged related to fatal pedestrian collision in November 2025

A man is facing a charge of dangerous driving causing death in connection with the death of a pedestrian in Nanaimo last year.

Mahadi Redwan’s body was found on Nov. 12, 2025, in bushes beside Highway 19A, between Turner Road and the Rutherford Road/Mostar Road intersection. Police believe he was struck and killed while walking along the highway on Nov. 2.

Nanaimo RCMP laid the charge and issued an arrest warrant on Oct. 21. The man turned himself in to police on Oct. 26 and was released with several conditions.

“The Nanaimo RCMP would like to thank the public and our partner agencies for their assistance throughout this investigation,” reads a news release from the RCMP. “This outcome was made possible through the dedicated efforts of frontline officers, specialized investigative units and civilian staff whose collective work helped advance the investigation and bring it before the courts.”
