Provincial grants help organizations in Powell River & Gibsons

Powell River – Sunshine Coast MLA Randene Neill, has announced $327,297 in grants from the BC Government for two projects to help not-for-profits improve and expand facilities and programs.

Neill says one of the best parts of living rurally is the sense of community.

“Investing in public spaces that bring people together and help foster arts and community is so important,” said Neill.

She says for Powell River, $250,000 will be given to Pacific Region International Summer Music Association to help build a new facility at Townsite Market, with the site to provide a permanent space to support innovation and community gatherings on the top floor.

For Gibsons, the remaining $77,297 goes to the Sunshine Coast Teen Parent Education Society to upgrade both their HVAC systems and outdoor play space to make it more accessible.

The money comes from the Community Gaming Grants Program, which is proving $5 million to 54 projects throughout BC.
