City spending a half million to move noisy pickleball courts

After years of noise complaints from neighbours, six popular pickleball courts in Nanaimo are moving to a quieter location.

The courts were added to Beaufort Park in 2017, with much fanfare from the city and local pickleball enthusiasts. But now nearby residents nearby are tired of the noise and traffic.

The city of Nanaimo is now spending more than a half-million dollars to build eight new courts at Beban Park, which is farther away from residential housing.

They are expected to be completed in September.
