Construction work is underway on the BC Ferries terminals servicing Nanaimo Harbour and Gabriola Island.
As part of the process, they’ll need to run water taxi-only service on specific late-night and early-morning sailings this week, while they do geotechnical work on the marine structures of the two terminals.
Ferries says they’ve chosen days and times for this work based on historical data of when the fewest people are travelling to mitigate the impact on those who rely on ferry service for access to work, school, and appointments.
They say that anyone living near the terminals may hear increased noise levels overnight.
