Parksville Fire ‘chips’ in for charity

Parksville Fire Department wants your tree in exchange for a cash donation to support community projects in 2024.

According to a media release, the Parksville Fire Association will host the charity event on Jan. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wembly Mall. Branching Out has graciously donated the chipper for the event and every cent raised will support the fire department’s cause.

Parksville Fire says, until it is time to get rid of your tree it is important to follow safety tips to prevent stop the tree from drying out and causing a preventable fire in the home.

A list of recommended safety precautions can be found on their website, or by calling the Parksville Fire Department at 250-248-3242.

They ask residents to make sure all decorations are removed before disposing of their trees in the new year.
