Vancouver Coastal Health issues drug poisoning advisory for Sechelt

Vancouver Coastal Health says a drug alert for Sechelt is in effect after drugs tested positive for multiple toxic substances.

According to the health authority, “dark orange pebbles from Sechelt test positive for fentanyl, xylazine and benzos.”

They add the substance has caused sedation and should only be used at overdose prevention sites.

Three overdose prevention sites can be found along the Sunshine Coast and Howe Sound. They include one at 4752 Joyce Ave in Powell River, 5653 Wharf Ave in Sechelt and 37930 3rd Ave in Squamish.

VCH reminds you to stay safe, never use alone and to make sure either you or your friends have a naloxone kit.
