Weston ready to defend Northern Gateway stance during a busy summer in the constituency

West Vancouver Sunshine Coast MP John Weston says he’s expecting to face lots of questions about Northern Gateway when he returns to the riding for the summer.
Weston says he’ll be telling constituents the government didn’t support an specific company’s project, it supported what he calls the “science-based” recommendations of the Joint Review Panel.
Weston has already published an open letter to constituents on the issue, and he says there’s a need to take steps to ensure prosperity by diversifying the market for Canadian resources.  He also says that can be done while ensuring the environment is protected.
Meanwhile, political analyst Alan Warnke, says he thinks Northern Gateway has already become an election issue for 2015.
Warnke says he expects BC’s Conservative MPs won’t shy away from the issue, but will likely be armed with talking points from Prime Minister’s Office.
