School District 46 and its students have painted a new rainbow crosswalk at one of their schools.
“It’s at Chat Secondary in Sechelt and it represents a message of inclusiveness for the entire community,” Said SD46 Superintendent Patrick Bocking.
“We’re really excited about this. It’s a very visual reminder of practices that we’ve had for a while, with our regulations and policies on making sure that everyone feels inclusive and a part of our district regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Bocking also noted this was a student lead effort and “it’s exciting that our students are leaders in their community, beyond their school. It’s a wonderful legacy that they’ll be leaving behind.”
