Record year for BC drivers

The bar has been set, but not a good one.

BC drivers set a new record in 2017 for the number of crashes they were involved in.

Joanna Linsangan with ICBC says some of the stats are pretty eye-opening.

Linsanangan says in response to this, they’ve launched a ‘Drive Smart Refresher’ test.

The total cost of claims for ICBC was at $4.8 billion for 2017 alone.
A survey was also conducted by ICBC and more than 75 per cent of respondents admitted to displaying bad driving habits on the road.
Linsangan says if this trend continues, that means one out of 10 drivers could cause a crash this year.

Between 2014 to 2017, ICBC saw a 25 per cent increase in crashes.
