The Nanaimo City public works department is challenging residents to work together to divert more waste from the landfill.
Charlotte Davis, the Manager of Sanitation and Recycling says residents currently divert 63 per cent of their waste from the landfill through the curbside program….

Davis says it is estimated that the region’s landfill has about 20 years of capacity left and by setting goals such as these the life of the landfill could be extended.
